Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) met only 4 times in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in which the Super Giants have won only once. In the recently concluded clash, the Royals defeated the Super Giants in the 4th match of the IPL 2024.

Lucknow Super Giants finished third in their maiden IPL season with nine wins and five losses in 14 games played. They lost against RCB in the eliminator and were knocked out of the race. Same happened with them last year as they were knocked out in the eliminator again. They would look to continue the same momentum this time in the 17th season.

Rajasthan Royals secured the fifth position with a total of 14 points, achieved through seven victories and defeats, narrowly missing out on a playoff spot by just two points in the IPL 2023 season. Yashasvi Jaiswal emerged as the fifth-highest run-scorer of the tournament, amassing a total of 625 runs, while Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson both exceeded the 300-run milestone.
