India walked in the final Test match of the series against South Africa with two changes wherein Hanuma Vihari made way for skipper Virat Kohli and senior pacer Umesh Yadav replaced injured Mohammed Siraj. However, there stood one exclusion that raised several eyebrows and that was of experienced pacer Ishant Sharma.

While all the pacers on the tour marked their place in the XI, it was shocking for fans to see Sharma missing out, who was a regular in the team a few months ago. In the same light, former Proteas pacer Shaun Pollock expressed his concerns and stated that senior pacer deserves better treatment. It is disheartening to see him sitting out especially when he was first choice pacer in the team for India’s Tests.

Pollock being a former pacer asserted that team management needs to have a clear conversation with him regarding his future and that why he is constantly sidelined. The former pacer also emphasized the fact that Ishant needs to be respected more for what he has done for India so far.

“If the reason was ‘we think you would be better suited if there were no left-handers,’ he just has to accept that,” Pollock said in a chat with Cricbuzz.

Management should not forget what Ishant has done for the team, reckons Shaun Pollock

Moving further in the discussion, the 48-year-old stated that seeing the pitch conditions in the first two Tests, Ishant must be really looking forward to the opportunity. Also, it becomes a little difficult for a player to be continuously warming the benches when he has played a good amount of cricket for the national team. The former quick said again that team management should be clear and transparent with the 33-year-old on his future. On the other hand, Delhi pacer should also understand where is at with his team.

India is currently up against South Africa in the final Test in Cape Town and the series is currently leveled. It remains to be seen if India will be able to script history by winning this series against South Africa.
