It was a tough Day 1 for Team India in the ongoing third Test as South Africa bundled them out for a paltry 223 while batting first. The Cape Town track constantly troubled the Indian batters as wicket fell in regular intervals. However, one man who stood out in the difficult situation is Indian skipper Virat Kohli. The 33-year-old slammed a well-paced 79 to take his side to a respectable total.

Notably, Kohli, who missed the preceding Test due to an upper back spasm, hasn’t been at his best in Tests since the last couple of years. In fact, his last ton in the format was recorded back in 2019. Although the wait for the century continues, fans and experts are pleased with Kohli’s batting effort in the deciding Test.

Meanwhile, Kohli, who’s known for his aggressive and animated nature, doesn’t mind having a chit-chat with opposition players. He was seen talking with several South African players during the course of his knock. One such incident happened when South Africa opted for a review following a massive caught-behind appeal against him off Duanne Oliver’s bowling.

Controversial decision falls in Virat Kohli’s favour

DRS showed there’s a tiny spike in the snickometer as the ball goes past the bat. However, further slow-motion replays showed there’s substantial gap between the bat and the ball. Hence, the third umpire made the decision in Kohli’s favour and the Proteas players were visibly shocked. The same seemed to have ignited a conversation between Kohli and the fielding side.

Although the nature of the chat is hard to determine, it’s pretty obvious that the conversation is regarding the decision. Kohli seemed to have enjoying a chat as he said something smilingly before getting away from his counterpart Dean Elgar. The video of the same went viral in no time as fans were impressed seeing Kohli’s ‘cool and calm attitude.’

Meanwhile, stakes are incredibly high in this game as the three-match series is perfectly poised at 1-1. As India have never won a Test series on South African soil, they would like to conquer the final frontier. On the other hand, South Africa will fight to avoid the same. Hence, some exciting action is on the cards.
