Coincidences are aplenty in sport. And, one such coincidence took place during Day 1 of the 3rd Test match between South Africa and India at Cape Town.

When the 13th over of the Indian innings started, Indian skipper Virat Kohli had his helmet on and was seen shadow practicing in the dressing room. India were already one wicket down at that stage.

One ball later, Mayank Agarwal was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada. To a good length delivery, the right-hander played a defensive shot, the ball took the outside edge of his willow and Aiden Markram completed the catch in the slip cordon.

Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara rebuild the Indian innings

When Agarwal was dismissed, India were reeling at 33/2, but veterans Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli steadied the Indian ship. Kohli in particular has been very watchful in his stay out in the middle.

The Kohli-Pujara duo put on a partnership of 62 runs, but after lunch, Pujara edged Marco Jansen to the wicketkeeper and departed for 43. Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed for just 9 by Rabada. The Indian scorecard currently reads 120/4. While Kohli is batting on 29*, having faced 102 deliveries, Rishabh Pant is accompanying the Indian skipper and has scored 4 off 7 deliveries at the time of writing.

Kagiso Rabada has scalped 2 wickets, while Duanne Olivier and Jansen have scalped one wicket each. The three-match Test series between South Africa and India is locked at 1-1, and the winner of the 3rd Test match will be crowned the champions.
