Saba Karim predicts Indian squad for T20 World Cup 2021, no place for Chahal, Shami

With the T20 World Cup on cards, the excitement for the high-profile tournament has already reached a crescendo. Ahead of the event, the Indian selectors will have a tough time putting their thinking hats on for the right team combination. Considering the bench talent that India possesses, there are quite a few names that are expected to make it to the squad. Saba Karim has thus picked up his preferred 15-member Indian squad for the T20 World Cup.

Yuzvendra Chahal, Prithvi Shaw, and Mohammed Shami are the key players that did not make it to Saba Karim’s squad. He stated that the team that took the charge of the field for the T20I series against England should form the foundation of the selection. Karim, however, selected Washington Sundar as he believes that there should be consistency in the selection process and pointed that Sundar can be a great asset considering the conditions of the UAE.

“The team that was chosen by the selectors for the series against England, there were around 17 players there, I have started choosing my team from there. The players who performed well there and have not got an opportunity on the Sri Lanka tour because they were in England, you don’t have any excuse to keep them out. There should be consistency in selection. Because of that, I have kept Washington Sundar in my team. I feel that with the matches happening in the UAE, you will need an off-spinner there and he is kind of an all-rounder.” Said Karim during a discussion on India News as reported by Sportskeeda.

Rahul Chahar is a match-winner: Saba Karim

Along with Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rahul Chahar made it to Saba Karim’s squad for the T20 World Cup. Karim stated that Rahul Chahar is a wicket-taking bowler and possesses the ability to be a match-winner. He also pinned his hopes on Bhuvneshwar who he feels is getting back to his rhythm and would be a pivotal aspect for the Indian team.

“Along with him, I have kept Rahul Chahar because I feel he is an attacking bowler, a wicket-taking bowler, a match-winner. And I am still keeping Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the team because I feel his form is coming back and he will be very essential for the Indian team.” Karim added
