Sachin: A Billion Dreams making giant strides towards becoming a blockbuster

The much-hyped biopic of Sachin Tendulkar – ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’, after making a good start on Friday, continued on its way to breaking records even on Saturday. The biopic is a docudrama about the various experiences of the Master Blaster’s life and cricketing career.

The movie grossed a whopping amount of 8.4 crores of Friday itself. It further amassed an additional 11.34 crores subsequently on Saturday. Sachin’s biopic is on the way to becoming one of the top-grossing movies of the year. It is directed by James Erskine and contains few never-seen-before snippets of Tendulkar’s personal life and the achievements of the cricketer over a period of 33 years.

‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’ encompasses the whole journey of his life since he picked up the bat to winning the World Cup 2011 final played Mumbai, in front of his home crowd, including the ups and downs of his career. It also gives an account of some of the greatest personalities in cinema and cricket namely, Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Vivian Richards, Shane Warne, Virat Kohli, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and many more.

Almost 20 crores in two days

The movie has aggregated as much as  INR 19.74 crores until now. It was released parallel to Pirates of the Carribean: Salazar’s Revenge which also earned a healthy sum of 4.25 crore on its opening day. The fact that the movie does not have a stiff competition from any other big banner Bollywood flick, would also help its cause to become the top grossers in the year.

Arjun Kapoor starer Half-Girlfriend has had a lukewarmish response in the theaters. A Death in the Gunj and Dobaara: See Your Evil are other small-scale films playing alongside Sachin’s biopic.

Sachin Tendulkar was busy during Mumbai Indian’s successful campaign in the IPL but has found time to promote his movie across various sphere in the country. He had a grand premier where whose who of the Bollywood industry as well as cricketing sphere were present and gave the movie a thumbs up.
