Former South Africa pacer Dale Steyn has compared Virat Kohli’s walking across the stumps and playing the shots on the leg-side with Sachin Tendulkar. Tendulkar was known for shots on the leg side and even playing the balls pitched outside off-stump towards on the leg side. Kohli does the same and is a wristy batter. The Tendulkar-Kohli comparison on who is better than the other has been going on for last few years.

Kohli is threatening to break Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI tons. Currently, the 33-year-old has 43 ODI hundreds to his name and is looking well-set to break the Master Blaster’s record. However, the last time Kohli scored an ODI hundred was against West Indies in Port of Spain on 14 August 2019. Since then, he has come close to hitting a century in the all forms of the game but to no avail.

Even after his century drought for more than two years, he is expected to break Sachin’s record of 49 centuries, which is the highest by any player in ODI cricket. Meanwhile, Steyn was speaking on the former India skipper’s innings of 51 runs against South Africa in the first ODI. The former pacer also spoke about the first ever double hundred in ODI cricket hit by Sachin Tendulkar in February 2010 which also came against South Africa.

“The way Virat was batting the other day when he was walking across hitting those balls from outside off to the leg-side. Sachin was doing that to me when he hit that double century in Gwalior. That is very difficult to bowl to. So hopefully Temba has got some good plans today,” Steyn said while speaking to Star Sports.

KL Rahul needs to implement some aggressive plans, saysDale Steyn

The 38-year-old added that KL Rahul spoke about implementing some aggressive plans but didn’t execute them the way Proteas skipper Temba Bavuma did.

“I heard KL say that he has some aggressive game plans that he wants to implement but I didn’t see it the other day as much as Temba used them. Let’s hope Temba has got something to contain Shikhar Dhawan because India have got a fantastic opening batting line-up and top order. KL is fantastic, Shikhar is great,” added Steyn.
