Fans around the globe will be treated to a game between Brian Lara’s XI against Sachin Tendulkar’s XI on the opening day of the Brian Lara Stadium. The Stadium will be a multi-purpose stadium and is situated in Tarouba, Trinidad & Tobago.

The Stadium, which was originally supposed to establish in 2007, failed several deadlines and is finally ready to open up on May 13. It will have a capacity of 15,000 people and is named after their biggest cricketing icon, also the most celebrated, Brian Lara. The stylish left-hander is widely regarded as one of the best batsmen to have played the game.

Brian Lara played last of his 131 Tests in December 2006. He managed to score 11,953 runs with 34 hundreds to his name in a remarkable 16-year career. He held the record for most runs in Test cricket till October 2008, after which Sachin Tendulkar overtook him.

Tendulkar retired in November 2013, ending a glorious 24-year career. He had almost all batting records to his name and should hold on to them for the years to come. In 200 Tests, Tendulkar ended with 15,921 runs which included 51 hundreds.

Tendulkar and Lara were always compared with each other. Both were brilliant in their careers and the fans will get another opportunity to revisit their legendary batsmanship. The match will be broadcasted internationally as well as locally. The tickets for the event will be up for sale soon.

The Stadium took a long time to be built and was one of the venues of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 but following delays and overruns, it took a decade to complete the construction.

The Tendulkar and Lara face-off promises a lot of entertainment for the cricketing fraternity. Though they have gone on with the years, this contest still promises of a lot of quality and competitiveness.
