Sachin Tendulkar, Zaheer Khan, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma joined Yuvraj Singh’s cancer foundation, aiming to educate approximately 100 students on World Cancer Day.
Observing World Cancer Day with the rest of the world, Yuvraj went on to announce ‘Together We Can’, a crowd-funding initiative on DesiredWings.com. Yuvraj also promised to support the cause to raise money for cancer patients through this form of crowd funding.
Yuvraj Singh also promised that the money raised will be used for scholarships for children’s education as parents will exhaust savings on the prolonged treatment to cure the life-threatening disease.
“Out of all my centuries, I feel the most proud in sponsoring education of 100 cancer affected kids. Join me in batting against cancer and let’s give wings to survivors and contribute on Together We Can Campaign,” said Yuvraj Singh.
Yuvraj Singh made a comeback to international cricket following his treatment in 2011. His comeback and improvement on the international stage has been nothing short of commendable.
Yuvraj has been named in the squad that will look to regain the T20 World Cup crown they had previously won in 2007. The upcoming edition of the premier T20 tournament will present the perfect opportunity for the hosts to win back the championship that led the renaissance for the Indian side following a dismal 2007 ICC World Cup.
Yuvraj Singh has also reported that approximately Rs. 2.5 crore is expected to be collected from the crowd funding event.
