Steve Smith, David Warner, and Cameron Bancroft have paid for their crimes and were handed hefty bans by the Cricket Australia. Whilst the entire fraternity is fuming after the spirit of the game got disparaged so badly, even the legendary Sachin Tendulkar voiced his opinion. Tendulkar remained silent for a while, but he finally came out and spoke about the issue.

Tendulkar didn’t mention the names of both these cricketers. He just mentioned that the recent events have been unfortunate and spoke in favor of the decision taken by Cricket Australia. He said that the right decision was taken to uphold the integrity of the game and the sport should be played in the purest form.

Cricket has been known as a gentleman’s game. It’s a game that I believe should be played in the purest form. Whatever has happened is unfortunate but the right decision has been taken to uphold the integrity of the game. Winning is important but the way you win is more important,” Tendulkar said via his official Twitter handle.

SRH and RR start hunting for replacements

After the CA confirmed that David Warner and Steve Smith were handed a one-year ban, the IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla cleared that both these players will not be allowed to play for their respective franchises in the lucrative tournament. Whilst Steve Smith’s loss might not be significant for the Rajasthan Royals, the Sunrisers Hyderabad fans are utterly disappointed.

David Warner has been their talismanic leader in the last three seasons and they’re aware of a fact that life will be difficult without him. A famous Sri Lankan journalist has already tweeted that the SRH unit has approached Kusal Perera as a possible replacement for Warner.

Whilst there are no such speculations regarding who Rajasthan will rope in, many believe Joe Root will be a perfect replacement for Smith. The likes of Shaun Marsh, Hashim Amla, and Martin Guptill too are in the fray as all these players went unsold in the IPL auction.
