Considered as the greatest batsmen of all time, Sachin Tendulkar has given nightmares to many bowlers during his 24-year-long cricketing career. One of those bowlers who had admitted to having nightmares about Sachin was veteran cricketer Shane Warne. However, recently the Australian legend affirmed that the “Master Blaster” doesn’t give him nightmares anymore. In fact, it was rather a tongue-in-cheek comment that he made somewhere during the late 90s.

Tendulkar was at his best in the 90s and had played some glorious knocks against Australia in a span of few months during the latter part the decade. Tendulkar had also dominated Australia’s legendary spinner Warne during that span. The Indian master had thoroughly schooled the leg-spinner on their tour to India. Following that, the Indian team also won a tri-nation tournament in Sharjah in 1998 where Sachin single-handedly guiding the team to victory.

He was in such a form that Steve Waugh‘s Australian team had no clue on how to restrain the legendary batsman. It was then when Warne had then made a statement that he had ‘nightmares’ at the thought of bowling to Tendulkar. Twelve years after confessing about the “nightmares”, the former Australian spinner attested that it rather a cheeky comment. It was nothing more than a joke and that he never had nightmares about bowling to Sachin.

Shane Warne denies having nightmares about Sachin

“I can promise you Sachin is not my dreams and thoughts today. I can’t recall which year it was but he played terrific Innings and they won test matches (against Australia). I said probably, as a throwaway line tongue-in-cheek I said probably have nightmares about Sachin’s drive. I promise you I don’t think about Sachin in my sleep,” Shane Warne told Businessworld, affirming that the comment was taken too seriously than was required.

The former captain of the Rajasthan Royals was the mentor of the franchise during the 2018 edition of the IPL. Warne was the one who led them to their maiden IPL title in 2008. He has also been named as the brand ambassador of the Royals franchise.
