The Indian squad for the limited-overs tour of Australia was announced yesterday. And, there was good news for all Yuvraj Singh fans as the dashing all-rounder made a comeback to the T20I team. Left-arm fast bowler Ashish Nehra was also named in the Indian T20I squad for the tour.

India’s batting legend Sachin Tendulkar has expressed pleasure at the comebacks of these two players. Yuvraj and Nehra were on Saturday given fresh lifelines with a recall to the squad for the three-match T20I series Down Under.

“I am happy that both are back… They deserve it and this is the result of their hard work… I wish them and the team all the success in Australia,” Tendulkar told The Telegraph.

The selectors preferred to give another opportunity to Yuvraj and Nehra, both of who had represented India with great performances in the past.

The 33-year-old Yuvraj, who was the man-of-the-series in India’s World Cup triumph in 2011, last represented the national team in the final of the 2014 World T20 in Bangladesh.

While Nehra last played in the India colours in the 2011 ODI World Cup. The selection committee led by Sandeep Patil met in New Delhi and some momentous changes in both the ODI and T20 squads. It was mainly done keeping in mind the upcoming 2016 World T20 which will take place in India.

Speaking about Yuvraj Singh and Ashish Nehra’s comeback, Patil said: “Yuvi is special and captain is happy to have him back. We can’t guarantee him place but chance to perform will be given. Nehra is a consistent performer in T20 format. He will be useful in the team. We will need experienced players in the T20 WC.

Yuvraj’s father Yograj Singh was also jubilant with Yuvraj’s comeback. He said, “His comeback was always on the cards. When he was dropped I was very much hurt because such great players cannot be dropped just after few bad innings. You got to push them up. A player must be pushed ahead when they are going down and I wish him (Yuvraj) all the best and I hope he wins lots of matches for India.”
