Legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar took to social media to express his grief on losing his oldest fan. Mary Serrao, the woman who is considered to be Sachin Tendulkar’s oldest fan, has passed away. She died at the age of 93 years. She was an ardent follower of the Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar.

She got an opportunity to meet her favourite cricketer in the year 2009. It happened to a be commercial shoot when she finally got an opportunity to meet Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin, too, had immense respect for her and believed her blessings to be key for his well being.

Mary Serrao also attended the last ever international match of Sachin. Sachin played his final Test, the 200th of his career, at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai against the West Indies in 2013. That was the last occasion when Serrao saw Sachin play. Interestingly, Mary Serrao and Sachin Tendulkar share the same birth date. Both of them were born on April 24.

After the sad demise of Sachin’s greatest fan, the man himself took to micro-blogging site Twitter and express his grief. He mentioned that he will always miss the times that he spent with Serrao. He believes that the blessings of the lady will always be with him. However, that will definitely not stop him from missing her.

Sachin tweeted, “Remember going to her place to spend time with her. I know her blessings will always be with me but will miss her … RIP #MarySerrao”.

He also posted a collage of pictures of him with Serrao along with the tweet. Sachin Tendulkar has been the reason why an entire generation started following the game of cricket. His fan following is not limited or confined to national boundaries.

With over 24 years of service to the game, Sachin has earned the love and respect of all his fans. It is only heart warming to see the maestro himself giving back to his fans and letting them know that he cares every bit for the support that he gets from the fans.
