Former Indian skipper and legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar will present a BMW to 21-year old Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu. Reports suggest that a close friend of Tendulkar, Mr. V Chamundeshwari will be sponsoring the gift for the Indian Olympian. Chamundeshwari also happens to be the president of the Hyderabad Badminton Association.

There has been a lot of outpouring from the Indian media as well as a ton of people taking to social media to congratulate and thank Sindhu on her outstanding achievement after clinching the silver medal in Rio 2016. Sindhu lost to World No. 1, Spaniard Carolina Marin in what was a tight few final sets of the Women’s Badminton tournament in the Olympic games.

“Sindhu will be gifted a BMW car by Mr. Chamudeswaranath and his friends. Mr. Sachin Tendulkar will be presenting the car to Sindhu,” said Punnaiah Choudary, BAI Secretary (Tournaments), who had accompanied the team in Rio. Earlier, Tendulkar had gifted Saina Nehwal a car after she had claimed a bronze medal in the 2012 edition of the Olympic Games in London. However, this time, around, Nehwal was not able to cope with the injuries she had sustained prior to the start of the Rio Games.

Sindhu became only the second person to clinch a medal in the Rio Games for India in what was a disappointing outing for the 119 member team that was sent to Rio. Abhinav Bindra, Dipa Karmakar, The Indian men’s hockey team, and Lalita Babar impressed with some decent performances. However, they failed to make an impact on proceedings as they fell painfully short of clinching any medals.
