Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar has revealed that he hasn’t seen his son Arjun Tendulkar play as yet. Arjun, the 22-year-old fast bowler has played in several domestic tournaments and put in some performances worthy of applause. However, Master Blaster, in an interview, confirmed that he never watches his son play.

Sachin in a conversation with Graham Bensinger on a Youtube channel disclosed that the reason for not going to watch Arjun play is that he wants his son to have the freedom to fall in love with the game, and not be under any sort of pressure. The veteran player also revealed that there have been some instances where he has gone to watch his son play, but without anyone knowing it.

I want to give Arjun the freedom to fall in love with cricket: Sachin Tendulkar

“Fathers and mothers, when they watch their children play, they get stressed and that’s why I don’t go and watch Arjun, because I want him to have that freedom to fall in love with cricket – to stay focused on what he wants to do, I don’t go and watch him play. He has to stay focused on the game. Like I didn’t like anyone watching me. Even if I go and watch his games, I’m hiding somewhere. He doesn’t know that I’m there, and nobody knows, neither does his coach, or anyone,” Tendulkar said in a video that was shared on YouTube.

The left-arm pacer was recently roped in by his former Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians, but for a high fee of Rs 30 lakh. However, Arjun is yet to make his debut in the biggest cricketing league in the world.

Arjun, last year had also broken into Mumbai’s squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and made his senior debut against Haryana, returning figures of 1 for 34 from three overs. He played one more game for Mumbai, turning out in their defeat against Puducherry. Arjun, batting at No. 11, was dismissed for three as Mumbai folded for 94. With the ball, he finished with 1 for 33 from four overs.
