Stand behind the team

In his video message, the legend said: “It is really important that all of us stand behind them. Our athletes go through rigorous training sessions to bring laurels to our nation. Their dream is to represent the nation, that is India.”

“Guys, we must stand behind our athletes and supports them because getting support from all the well-wishers is the best tonic any athlete can have. Let us stand behind our team and support them. It is our time to show our support to all our athletes and we wish all the athletes all the best.”

The Indian football team is playing the Intercontinental Cup 2018 in Mumbai and after the first match Sunil Chhetri posted a video to thank the fans but also urged all others who never turn up to the stadium to watch them live to be there and even if they are not happy with the performance to come out and tell that to them in person.

Chhetri’s emotional message

“I am gonna speak and appeal to all of you who did not come. To everyone who is not a football fan, please come and watch us for two reasons. No. 1 – it’s the best game in the world and No. 2 – we play for our country. We will make sure that once you come to watch us, you will not return the same person back home,” the Indian football captain said.

“I mean, it is not fun to criticise or abuse on the internet. Come to the stadium. Do it on our face. Scream at us, shout at us, abuse us. Who knows, one day it might change you guys or you might start a chain for us. To all of you fans who could not come or did not come due to delay, work, school, please come and watch us in the stadiums. You guys have no idea how important you are and your support is,” he stated.

The video has gone viral on social media and almost all influential figures across platforms have urged everyone in Mumbai to be present and cheer for Chhetri and his team.
