Australian cricket is renowned for their brash approach on the cricket pitch owing to which they have been at the receiving end of several criticisms. Heated exchanges with opposition players and playing mind games ahead of a series has been a common phenomenon for the Australians. However, this time around, they went a little too far and got themselves tangled in the act of ball-tampering.

Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft admitted to the horrendous actions which were condemned by commoners and the cricketing fraternity across the globe. Subsequently, Steve Smith and David Warner have been slapped with a one-year ban. Meanwhile, they also lost their contracts in the Indian Premier League. On the other hand, Bancroft has been handed a ban of nine months.

James Sutherland, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cricket Australia, asked the three perpetrators to leave South Africa with immediate effect. While returning, Smith had to encounter a throng which hurled boos at the suspended Aussie cricketer. Meanwhile, he also attended a press conference where he apologized to the media and the Australian public for bringing shame to the country.

The concerns for Sachin

During the press conference, Smith broke down into tears as his father consoled him from behind. Several players have sympathized with the cricketer after his emotional interaction with the media. Recently, Sachin Tendulkar, the former Indian cricketer has also opined on one of the gloomiest periods, which have broken the backbone of Australian cricket.

Staying lifelong with the guilt of a wrongdoing etched in the soul isn’t a cakewalk and something which is bound to haunt a person till the time he breathes his last. The Mumbai batsman also mentioned about the tumultuous times the cricketers and their families might be encountering following the occurring.
