Sachin Tendulkar tweets a birthday wish for the 'encouraging' Ravi Shastri

Former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri is celebrating his 56th birthday on Sunday and many of his former teammates and present cricketers are pouring in their wishes for him. He had a pretty successful and enjoying stint on the commentary panel following his retirement from the sport. Shastri is famously known as one of the most to embrace a beautiful voice and a celebrated cricketing career as well. Former Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar wished his fellow Mumbai cricketer on his birthday.

Shastri featured in 80 Test matches and 150 One-day Internationals for India, in which he amassed 3830 and 3108 runs respectively. He also has 150 and 121 wickets in both the respective formats and always proved himself as a worthy all-rounder. He achieved many landmark moments throughout his international cricketing career and is also scaling new heights as the coach of the team now.

Sachin’s birthday wish

In his birthday wish on Twitter, Sachin Tendulkar mentioned Shastri as a great friend who contributed in an inspiring manner right from the early days of his cricketing career. “Happy birthday to a great friend and someone who has encouraged me right from the beginning of my cricket career, @RaviShastriOfc. Have a great one,” wrote the Master Blaster in his wish for the birthday boy.

Both the Mumbai cricketers Sachin and Shastri have played a considerable amount of cricket together for their domestic side as well as for the Indian team. The former is also the part of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) along with former Indian cricketers, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly, who appointed Shastri as the head coach of the Indian team in July 2017, following Anil Kumble’s resignation. So far the former team director has had a successful and decent stint with the side led by Virat Kohli, which includes a historic ODI series win in South Africa.
