Sir Donald Bradman and Sachin Tendulkar are probably the two names that come first to one’s mind when we talk about the greatest batsmen in cricket history. It was a wonderful sight for the fans on Twitter when the latter took out time to wish the former a very happy birthday. 27h of August marks the legendary Don Bradman’s 109th birth anniversary who passed away at the age of 92 in 2001.

The main story:

Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar who is probably the only batsman who is kept in the same bracket as the Don, came up with a beautiful post on Twitter to mark the occasion. The owner of numerous records, Sachin, shared a photo of himself with Bradman and gave us a blast from the past. In the photo, we can see Bradman signing a cricket bat for the man who was tipped to become the next Don Bradman. Tendulkar captioned the picture by terming the extraordinary cricketer as the ‘one and only’.

Tendulkar’s tweet read “To the one and only…. Happy Birthday to Sir Donald Bradman”.

Don Bradman had an unthinkable Test career and the stats are a proof of it. He scored 5996 runs from 52 tests with a surreal average of 99.94. Bradman scored 29 Test centuries, 13 half-centuries and 12 double hundred in his illustrious Test career. His highest score of 334 runs came against England in 1930 during the Ashes.

It is a known fact that Bradman himself said that the phenomenal Sachin Tendulkar’s batting style reminded him of himself. In the book ‘Bradman’s Best’ it is mentioned that Bradman was massively impressed by Tendulkar’s technique and even asked his wife to watch Tendulkar bat.

Sachin Tendulkar’s career as a cricketer is no less than a fairytale with over 30,000 runs over a 24-year long career. His One Day International runs mount up to a staggering 18,426 while his total runs in the Test format stand at 15,921.
