Saeed Ajmal makes a comeback to International cricket, is far from his best: Saeed Ajmal makes a comeback to international cricket with worst bowling figures for him in ODI Cricket, 10-0-74-0. Ajmal gave away 74 runs with an economy of 7.4 runs per over and was not able to took a single wicket against Bangladesh at Mirpur 17 April, 2015.
His comeback is a paradox to what the team and his fans were expecting, and as a result Pakistan kept losing match after match. Saeed Ajmal’s action is totally different now whereas his run up is still the same; his arm does not bend like it would, so he is no longer able to create the angle he would. With this now his most effective weapon the “Doosra” is a thing of the past; he can no longer bowl it with as much impact with his remodeled action.
The body language of the Bangladeshi batsmen while facing him was quite calm and never looked under pressure; they played him very well and picked the gaps at ease. Bangladesh batsmen drove him, with the spin, and against the spin through covers. That was not all Ajmal was equally ineffective in the lone T20 International that they played against Bangladesh and the result Pakistan were down once again.
His Mentor the Legendary spinner, Inventor of the “Doosra” Saqlain Mushtaq said in the recent interview to a TV Channel that, “My duty was only to clear the action of Ajmal, Now it’s up to him that how much time he takes to get back in his original form. Obviously it takes time to set back his bowling after a long time with new style, rhythm and action. He is still a good bowler and as well also a good learner.”
The last game that he featured in was the T20I against Bangladesh, in which he failed to take any wicket and gave 25 runs. In last 3 International games he has only one wicket in his account against 148 runs with an economy of 6.86 runs per over. This series was also a nightmare for Pakistan as they could not even win a single game.
