Former Bangladesh coach Salahuddin recently took a jibe at the Bangladesh team management for consistently favouring Soumya Sarkar who has had a dry run with the bat recently and doing injustice with Imrul Kayes. Both the openers have been fighting for a spot in the playing eleven, to take guard alongside Tamim Iqbal.

Mohammad Salahuddin, who has been the former coach of the national team, believes that in order to provide ample opportunities to the struggling Soumya Sarkar, the team management is blind sighting the other suitable option by the name of Imrul Kayes.

He also augmented about the fact that Soumya Sarkar has been reiterating his mistakes over and over again, not learning from them. Salahuddin also stated that Soumya might have a technical issue when it comes to opening. That said, Salahuddin believes Imrul Kayes is feeling the brunt of the move of constantly backing Sarkar.

Salahuddin slams Team management

“Soumya is repeating the same mistake again and again. And still, team management is okay with that, which I believe is not a good thing. This way, they are doing an injustice with Imrul Kayes. I think the problem Soumya is having is technical” said the former head coach of Bangladesh.

The only point of time in the recent past that Sarkar has looked in good nick was the innings of 87 he played in the Tri-series held in Ireland. Apart from that inning, Soumya has been threatened to score big and has had a string of low scores. In the last eight innings, he averages a paltry 17.75 with scores of 87, 0, 19, 2, 28, 3, 3, 0.

Bangladesh has tried to slot in both Imrul Kayes and Soumya Sarkar at the top-order which did not work in the Champions Trophy. With both Imrul Kayes and Soumya Sarkar in the side, Sabbir Rahman was forced to bat at number 6 which isn’t an ideal slot for him to bat at.
