Salman Butt picks the best skipper out of Kane Williamson, Joe Root and Virat Kohli

India is all set to lock horns with New Zealand in two-match Test series commencing on November 25 in Kanpur. The Rohit Sharma-led side has already registered a stunning series win in the T20I series against the Kiwis and look forward to grabbing the Tests as well.

Taking ahead of the same event, former Pakistan cricketer Salman Butt chose the best skipper out of Kane Williamson, Virat Kohli, and Joe Root. When a fan on his channel asked him to name his pick out of the three above-mentioned names, Butt chose Williamson as the best.

“I think Kane Williamson is the best captain. Yes, Joe Root and Virat Kohli are brilliant as well, and they have led their sides superbly, but overall, generically, Williamson is the man when you consider all leaders across formats,” said Butt on his YouTube channel.

Talking of some numbers for all the three skippers, Kohli had led India in the highest no. of Tests (65) wherein India won on 38 occasions and lost in 16 games. Under the captaincy of Williamson, NZ went on to grab the WTC Trophy in the inaugural season, and under his leadership, Kiwis have won on 22 occasions while losing on eight.

Talking about Joe Root, his win percentage stands to be 48.21 out of 56 games that he had led as a captain. Kohli and Root recently clashed against each other in the UK.

Moving further in the conversation, another fan asked Butt about who plays more elegant shots between India T20I skipper Rohit Sharma and Butt added that is a difficult choice but both play elegant shots. Talking about Rohit, he is rested from the Test series to manage his workload. He debuted as a T20I captain in the NZ series only and pushed the side to whitewash the opponents.

“You have asked me which suit is better – Armani or BOSS. Both Rohit Sharma and Babar Azam play elegant shots. Both are elegant in a different way,” Butt added.
