According to reports, A film on India’s path-breaking 1983 World Cup triumph will soon be going on the floors and apparently be produced by Salman Khan’s sister Alvira and her husband Atul Agnihotri. Preliminary developments claim that the movie will be director Kabir Khan.

“It goes on the floors later this year, as soon as Kabir wraps up the in-progress Tubelight with Salman Khan. A-list actors who play the cricketing heroes are in the process of being finalised. Kapil Dev, Madan Lal, Mohinder Amarnath, Kirti Azad, Krishmachari Srikkanth, Syed Kirmani, Yashpal Sharma, Balwinder Sandhu and even Sunil Gavaskar who had to skip the earlier meet because it was his 67th birthday, will be on board as mentors to the actors,” the publication had reported.

As per the reports of Zee news, Kabir Khan will start working on the film as soon as he ends his commitment with Salman Khan’s upcoming movie “Tubelight. Earlier in September, it was reported by the Mumbai Mirror that Kapil Dev and the others from the victorious team will guide the production team.

The movie, on the same subject, was in fact planned back in 2014 but could never materialise at that time. Reports claimed that Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan of the ‘Lahore’ fame was supposed to direct the film, but due to his non-availability, Kabir Khan was roped in.

Meanwhile, last month, another Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar announced his own sports movie, based on India’s first Olympic medal as a free nation. The project, appropriately called Gold, will relive the trials and tribulations of India’s 1948 London Olympics men’s hockey gold medal-winning efforts.
