Sam Billings takes a stunner to send Faulkner packing in warm-up game

Team England continued their scintillating run of form in the limited overs cricket. The English side beat Prime Minister’s XI in the warm-up fixture by 8 wickets. It was an all round performance that the team came up with ahead of the T20I tri-series. While the batting and bowling was exceptional, the team excelled in the fielding department too. A prime example of the same was a stunner taken by Sam Billings.

During the match, Sam Billings took a stunner on the boundary ropes to send James Faulkner packing. Billings is renowned as one of the better fielders in the English side. It is worth noting that Billings has been a wicketkeeper batsman in the past. Despite this, his athletic abilities on the field remain unmatched.

The action perspired in the in the 7th over of the Prime Minister’s XI innings. On the final ball of the over, Adil Rashid tossed up one in the air as James Faulkner took strike. Faulkner’s eyes lit up seeing the tossed up delivery. He cleared his front leg and clubbed one over the mid wicket region. The ball looked as if it would sail over the ropes.

However, a running Sam Billings was seen coming towards the direction of the flying ball. He caught the ball by making a well-timed jump. In the process of doing so, his motion took him over the ropes. Realising that he might step over the ropes, Billings threw the ball back in the air. He got his feet back on the playing field and caught the ball again.

Talking about the match, the Prime Minister’s XI posted a mere 136/8 in their stipulated 20 overs. Peter Handscomb was the top scorer with 43 to his name as Liam Dawson and David Willey bagged three wickets each. In the run chase, Willey clobbered a quick fire 79 off 36 balls to help England register an 8-wicket win. They now look like the firm favorites for the tri-nation T20I series which involved Australia and New Zealand as the other two sides.
