Former Sri Lankan captain Sanath Jayasuriya is a well-known figure in the cricketing fraternity because of magnificent cricketing career. But he became infamous a few days ago when a revenge porn video was leaked. The video featured Jayasuriya and a woman having sexual intercourse. The woman reportedly is the ex-partner of the 47-year old legend.

The woman apparently is now married to an established businessman and media tycoon. According to her, the tape was released by Sanath so as to seek revenge. The Matara-born cricketer now operates as the chief selector of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board. But after the shameful incident, the SLC officers have decided to remove the legend from his duties.

“Recently his private life video is leaked to the media and it is very bad public perception and we don’t want him to continue as a selector. He has disgraced the game and the nation,” said a senior SLC official while speaking to Deccan Chronicle from Colombo.

He further mentioned that Sanath is not sent to England with the team for ICC Champions Trophy 2017. “We have not sent him to England for the Champions Trophy and he will not be sent there at the cost of SLC board,” added the official.

“It is quite likely that Jayasuriya may not be our selector post Champions Trophy,” revealed another official only on the condition that his name will not be included in the report. But the Sri Lankan board is waiting for Sanath to resign himself after the Champions Trophy. Because if he does not, the board will have to take a harsh step by sacking him.

Investigation is still going on

The issue is now handled by the National Center for Cyber Security Sri Lanka, Colombo. The woman, who was involved in the video, alongside her friends have claimed that the video is released by the former talisman opener. But the police has found no clear evidence to prove it. The investigations are still going on as authorities are desperate to find the culprit.
