Pakistani all-rounder Shoaib Malik is recognized as one of the finest and respectable cricketers to have played in the national colours in the history of Pakistan cricket. He made his debut back in 1999 during an ODI match against the Windies and is still an important and consistent member of the Pakistan cricket team in the limited overs format.

Malik was also the part of the team in the recently concluded three-match T20I series held in Karachi against the Windies, who became the second major team after Sri Lanka to tour Pakistan for a full-fledged international series.

Young left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi who recently performed impressively in the third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) was also awarded with the golden opportunity of featuring in the national side in the third T20I game of the three-match series. In a recent post on Twitter, a cricket fan tried to take an indirect dig of the fact that both Malik and Afridi were playing for the country in the same match.

The fanatic mentioned that Afridi was born on 6th April 2000, while the veteran Pakistani cricketer Malik made his international debut on 14th October 1999. Malik’s wife Sania Mirza who is an ace Wimbledon player had a special reply for the fan in which she appreciated the longevity of her husband’s international cricketing career.

“Shoaib Malik and Shaheen Shah Afridi playing in the same Pakistan XI, Shaheen was born on 6th April 2000 and Shoaib Malik made his International cricket debut on 14th October 1999” posted Daniel Alexander, a cricket fan on Twitter.

“Common.. my husband is still a spring chicken  #longevity @realshoaibmalik #mashaAllah” replied Sania in her tweet on supporting her husband.

The three-match T20I series held in Karachi against the Windies team was the second team after the T20I series against Sri Lanka international series held in the country following the infamous attacks on the Sri Lankan cricket team bus in 2009. However, following the horrendous incident, a World XI team side that constituted many of the top international cricketers also toured Pakistan last year for a three-match T20I series.

But the successful and a safe organisation of this series against the Windies is surely a very proud moment for all the national cricketers as well as for the betterment of Pakistan cricket.
