India is all set to play Pakistan tomorrow at the Sher-e-Bangla national stadium in their Asia Cup T20 tie. Its now a global fact that an India-Pakistan match is not just a game of cricket but lot more than that, fans from both the countries can accept anything but a loss against this particular opponent and then there are special fans like India’s tennis ace, Sania Mirza who have their loyalties split.

Sania who married Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik continues to represent India in her sport and will back the Indian team this time round as well, thought would also pray for her husband who is a vital cog of the opposition team does well.

Shoaib Malik in an interview with Indian news channel Aaj Tak said, “We maintain the same status; she supports Team India and wants her husband to do well, perform well in the middle if he is playing.”

The Indian team is high on confidence after their successful tour down under, series win at home against the Lankans, and the boosting win against hosts in the opening game of the Asia Cup T20, but an India-Pakistan game is a different contest altogether. The pressure mounts to another high and more often nerves determine the winner. The Asia Cup has seen an even contest as the ratio reads 5:5. But the last time that the two teams came face to face in the tournament it was the Men in Green who ran the victory lap.

Malik sounded confident and believes that his team has the quality in its bowling attack to outclass India. It has always been about the Indian batsmen and Pakistan bowlers but this time around, India seems to have a more settled bowling attack and it will be interesting to see how the inexperienced Pakistan batsmen tackle them.

“Indian batsmen are very consistent, but we have a good bowling attack. This is going to be a great game. This is going to be a big opportunity for players of both the teams, India-Pakistan matches always are,” Malik said.

He further added, “Coming after playing the PSL straightaway, our preparation has been very good. There’s no doubt India have performed very well in Australia and even vs Bangladesh yesterday, (but) I think it will be a great battle between two good teams.”
