Sania Mirza wishes husband Shoaib Malik on his birthday

Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik is celebrating his 36th birthday today. Over the years he has evolved into a key batsman for the national team across white ball cricket formats. Malik has seen the highs and lows being kept out of the team but has fought his way back. He developed his batting leaps and bounds to emerge as a crucial player for Pakistan.

A veteran of 261 ODIs, Malik first wore the green cap in 1999. He is one of those players who can be termed the jack of all trades, he is a good batsman and a decent spinner but for a very long time, his exact role in the team remained a mystery. He started out as an off-break bowler and eventually turned into a batting all-rounder. As a batsman, he has batted at nearly every position but never cemented one as his own.

He was also the captain of the national team for almost two years. In the post-captaincy phase, he was banned, dropped, picked again and dropped again numerous times until Zimbabwe’s arrival on these shores in 2015. Malik also played a crucial role in Pakistan’s triumph to the Champions Trophy in 2017. Malik 2.0, was just what the doctor ordered to revamp his own career as well as for the cause of the team.

On 12 April 2010, Malik married international tennis star and Indian ace Sania Mirza in Hyderabad. Two people from either side of the border their relationship has been fruitful and is just getting strong with time.

The couple is often seen exchanging some sweet messages on Twitter. On his birthday, Sania took it to the social media platform and wished him lots of love, happiness, and laughter. She also shared an adorable picture of theirs.
