There has been a huge outcry in the social media ever since popular commentator Harsha Bhogle’s IPL contract was terminated. ‘Tweeples’ have been very vocal about his expulsion from the commentary team in the ninth edition of Indian Premier League.
Amid this debate over his absence, popular commentator Sanjay Manjrekar embroiled himself in an unnecessary controversy after he took a mild jab at Harsha Bhogle for re-tweeting a fans tweet.
But, the tweet backfired at Manjrekar as he got trolled heavily on the micro-blogging site.
Harsha Bhogle re-tweeted a tweet which said in a spirit of hyperbole that commentary without him was like pizza without toppings.
@bhogleharsha @IPL – commentary without Harsha is like a pizza without exotic toppings.. Miss the attention to detail.

Sanjay Manjrekar took the tweet as the current IPL commentary team, of which he is a part of.
He tweeted, “Quite amused Harsha retweeted that the current IPL commentary team is like a pizza without toppings.”

Twitter users did not take any time to hit back at Manjrekar’s comments and criticised him for it.
@sanjaymanjrekar Sir, when someone is hurt, you perhaps expect him to show it in some way or the other.

The 54-year-old commentator, who has been the voice of Indian cricket for over two decades, released a statement on the IPL axing yesterday.
Bhogle wrote a long post on his Facebook page.
” I am, though, deeply moved by the messages I have got. I am overwhelmed that people who don’t know me have taken the trouble to express their views on the matter”
“I have a contract with Star Sports with whom I share an excellent relationship. It is the reason why I don’t have to do the IPL. I do it because I genuinely like the cricket on offer, I want to be part of cricket’s laboratory to see what is brewing. It is a fantastic tournament.”
“I still don’t know why I am not doing the IPL. I haven’t been told. I can accept the fact that people don’t like me. But I genuinely hope it isn’t because cricketers have complained about what I have to say.”
