Former Indian cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has recently voiced his opinions on the ongoing media reports about the internal tussle between Virat Kohli and Anil Kumble. The last couple of days has seen a lot of reports surfacing the media about the things being heated up in the Indian dressing room. Reportedly, some of the players are not enjoying their time under Anil Kumble.

It was noted that the players feel Kumble has been failing to win the confidence of the players. Also, the over-powering attitude of Kumble was seen as the major reason for the scuffle between the players and him. Moreover, some reports suggested that things are not very good between the captain Virat Kohli and Anil Kumble as well. Apparently, things got sour over the inclusion of Kuldeep Yadav in the Indian team.

Just when people started thinking that this is not the right thing for the Indian team, some more reports suggested that the rumors were only untrue and spread by the media. If inspected on a deeper level though, it can well turn out to be true. Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had invited applications for the post of the head coach of the Indian team.

Manjrekar joins the discussion

This came as a surprise to many since Kumble had been doing a phenomenal job as the coach of the national setup. Earlier it was speculated that Kumble’s rising demands did not go down with the BCCI. Now, it seems that the internal tussle could well be the reason. Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has joined the discussion. He recently noted that if the reports in the media are true, then both Kumble and Kohli need to sort things out.

For the results, their combination on the field has been superlative. India managed to have a scintillating run in the grand home Test season under Kumble’s coaching and Kohli’s captaincy.

“If media reports are true, Ind captain & Ind coach need to sit across the table, have a nice chat & carry on the good work,” wrote Sanjay Manjrekar.
