Sanjay Manjrekar wants Virat Kohli to request the Board for tougher challenges

Looking at the total mismatch at Sri Lanka, Former Indian Cricketer and Star Sports commentator/presenter Sanjay Manjrekar wants Virat Kohli to persuade the Board for tougher challenges, citing out the example of Imran Khan during his cricketing tenure. He took to Twitter to express his views. Indian Team going through an undefeated streak as they have won 8 consecutive Test series since August 2015.

The number one Test team in the world has remained undefeated, under the captaincy of Virat Kohli since the Sri Lanka series held two years back in 2015. India won all the series in Grand Home Season of Test Cricket which featured top notch teams such as England, Australia, New Zealand and Bangladesh. In between, they won a couple of Test series in West Indies where the home team were steam-rolled.

Looking at the records, India has only managed to defeat Sri Lanka and West Indies on away tours and defeated the quality sides only on home conditions. Sanjay Manjrekar pointed out that Virat Kohli should urge the BCCI for tougher challenges. Citing the example of one of the best Pakistani team of all time, headed by Imran Khan, Manjrekar wanted Kohli to emulate the move of Khan to request the Board for tougher challenges, rather than steam rolling easier opposition.

“When Imran was leading a strong Pak team he urged his board to schedule tougher challenges for his team. Virat must do the same,” stated Sanjay Manjrekar on Twitter. Although India is the number one side in the world right now, it is yet to face actual challenges on foreign conditions, where they have struggled. This Indian team is yet to conquer victory against Austalia, England, New Zealand, South Africa on their soil. India goes to South Africa in January 2018 in full fledged tour.
