Rising batting sensation Sanju Samson has apologised to the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) and its president for his misconduct during the ongoing season of Ranji Trophy. Samson has mailed to the KCA and has accepted all the charges levelled against him and has requested the state cricket body to let him off without any further disciplinary action as this was a first-time offence on his part.

Samson’s apology might tempt the KCA to let the youngster get away with a warning considering his credentials as a cricketer. Though KCA President TC Mathew confirmed to the Times of India that he has received an email from Samson but he was reluctant to share their future plan of action.

As per reports from TOI on December 1, the KCA had put together a four-member panel headed by TR Balakrishnan to investigate the charges of misconduct against Samson during the season.

Samson was ordered to explain the reason behind his unauthorised absence from the team after being cheaply dismissed during a Ranji Trophy game against Goa in Mumbai and also for his obstreperous behaviour in the dressing room. The panel was also looking for evidence regarding the allegations against Sanju’s father Samson Viswanath that he had abused TC Mathew during a telephonic conversation he had with the KCA President.

The committee had also asked the coach, captain and the manager of the Kerala Ranji team to be present in Thiruvananthapuram on December 22 when Sanju will appear before the panel for an explanation. Now the situation might change as Samson has lodged an official apology and the committee might close the issue by giving an official warning to Sanju.

Meanwhile, in the midst of all these unhealthy issues, Delhi Daredevils decided to retain the wicketkeeper-batsman for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
