It is a dream for everyone to have a rock star image in their college to be followed by everyone at a very young age. But, not many actually go ahead to achieve something that big still being a teenager. Unless you are Sanju Samson, the 19 year old lad from Kerala has achieved even more than he could think of. This week has to be the biggest moment of his life when he was selected in the 17 member Indian team for the ODI and T20 series to be played in England.

Samson has had a great start to his career being the highest run scorer for Kerala in the Ranji season meant he would be noticed. None other than a legend himself Rahul Dravid picked up the young batting talent under his wings. Sanju has been with the Rajasthan Royals IPL team coached and mentored by Dravid and has evolved every added game.

You surely are special if someone as great as Dravid nick name’s you Rock Star. Samson is that indeed and he has proved that time and again with the special talent and a little application which is growing serious all the time. His selection call came on the weigh of runs he scored in the recently concluded quadrangular series in Australia. Batted at no. 6 a different position from his usual opening or 3rd spot and yet was effective to be the top run scorer for India in the series.

The Mar Ivanios College in Kerala the proud institute where he studies greeted their student with a tremendous reception and he was quite humbled with the magnitude and love he got. While addressing almost all the students and professors Samson said,”The only thing I want to tell all of you is please see me as just one among you and treat me as an ordinary person. I somehow feel a bit uncomfortable with all this,”

If this is not enough Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy along with Sports minister of the state decided to give Sanju’s home a visit and wish the Sanju luck for the tour, CM said, “I take this opportunity to wish him all the very best and may he shine in his career.”

This is an overwhelming response but we would like to Sanju being left a little alone so that he can concentrate on his game and be prepared for the cricket that awaits him in England.
