Former Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed was absolutely delighted on Tuesday as he welcomed the birth of a baby girl. The cricketer himself took to his official Twitter handle to announce the news. The 32-year-old Sarfaraz Ahmed married Syeda Khushbakht in the year 2015 and this is the couple’s second child together.

Sarfaraz expressed his delight with a picture of his beloved son by the name of Abdullah, holding his newly-born sibling along with a caption saying: “Blessed with a baby girl ! Alhamdulliah, Ma Sha Allah”. Meanwhile, national cricketers and Sarfaraz Ahmed’s teammates congratulated the wicketkeeper-batsman and prayed for his daughter.

Hailing from Karachi, Sarfraz Ahmed led Pakistan across formats. The peak point of his cricketing career came when he steered Pakistan to Champions Trophy triumph in 2017 against India. Under his tutelage, Pakistan were once the number 1 side in T20Is. However, things are not going down too well for Sarfaraz Ahmed at the moment as he is out of the national team set-up due to obvious reasons.

Sarfaraz Ahmed can still make a comeback: Misbah-ul-Haq

Not long ago, Pakistan head coach Misbah-ul-Haq opened up about Sarfaraz Ahmed’s chances of returning to the Pakistan national team after the latter was snubbed for the ongoing home assignment against Bangladesh. The out-of-favour wicketkeeper-batsman lost his spot in the national team after performing badly as captain and batsman in 2019.

While the latest axing further put question marks over Sarfaraz Ahmed’s future in Pakistan national cricket team, Misbah-ul-Haq said that Sarfaraz Ahmed still has a lot of cricket left in him. Misbah said that Sarfaraz Ahmed made giant strides as far as fitness levels are concerned. The head coach added that his former Pakistan teammate can still make a rebound into the team if he pulls off something spectacular in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020.

“Sarfaraz Ahmed has made some terrific improvements in fitness and is one of the fittest at the moment. It’s straight forward for him with PSL coming up, he was dropped due to form. If he performs, he has a strong case to make a comeback,” Pakistan national cricket team head coach Misbah-ul-Haq was quoted as saying by TimesNow.
