Pakistan stunned everyone by beating firm favourites India in the final of the Champions Trophy 2017 and to lift the coveted title. Fakhar Zaman’s century had helped the Pakistanis get a big total on the board after being asked to bat first. India, in reply, were bundled out quickly.

However, captain Sarfraz Ahmed has revealed that he was not entirely happy with his bowlers throughout the innings. He told the media at Karachi Press Club that he was unhappy with Shadab Khan and Hassan Ali for giving away unnecessary boundaries to the Indian middle-order batsman Kedar Jadhav.

Jadhav hit two boundaries off two loose deliveries to ease some nerves in the Indian dressing room. However, he could not do much damage as he was dismissed for only nine runs. Sarfraz was seen celebrating passionately after taking the catch to dismiss him.

“I was angry at the duo (Shadab and Hassan), as they were leaking unnecessary boundaries against Jadhav, so when he got out I celebrated the dismissal passionately,” Sarfraz said.

He also conceded that it was difficult to include Zaman in the team after the loss in the first match against India. But when given the opportunity, the opening batsman performed exceptionally well and repaid the faith bestowed on him. Sarfraz also explained how Azhar Ali was drafted into the team to provide stability to the batting line-up.

Sarfraz invites international sportspersons and teams to tour Pakistan

The Pakistani skipper welcomed international sports personalities to visit Pakistan. He argued that if the teams were willing to play in England, in spite of the recent terror attacks, why can’t they come to Pakistan.

“We haven’t played international cricket at home for last nine years, despite that we won World T20 and ICC Champions Trophy,” he said, “Now the law and order situation in the country is stable, so teams should consider touring Pakistan in near future.”
