After three straight losses, the Gladiators have been eliminated from the tournament. Their final fixture against the Lions is their chance to get some consolations points on the board. It’s been a disappointing tournament for the Gladiators. There was plenty of promise when they started but things have just not panned out per plan for them. As for the Lions, this is a crucial match in the context of the tournament for them and a win is all that matters for them.

Team News

Gohilwad Gladiators

The lack of consistency has plagued the Gladiators’ campaign this season. Their best batting outing was against the Warriors where their top-three comprising of Pathak, Sisodiya and Parmar got some runs. Barring this game, their top-order has come a cropper and this has really hurt their campaign.

If you do have to consider batsmen from the Gladiators’ outfit, consider Pathak, Sisodiya and Shaikh. Besides these three, the other batsmen have come a cropper. The Gladiators’ blowing unit tells a similar sorry story. Against Kutch Warriors, they were unable to pick up a single wicket as the Warriors romped home to a 10-wicket win.

If anyone, Hardik Rathod has emerged the pick of the bowlers with two economical spell and three-wickets in the campaigns thus far.

The squad:

Kamlesh Makwana R, Kishan Parmar M, Hardik Rathod R, Vandit Jivrajani M, Chirag Sisodiya, Vihar Jadeja R, Krishnakant Pathak, Abhel Karetha M, Abrar Shaikh K, Sagar Dodia, Parswaraj Rana Y, Hetvik Kotak, Sagar Bhojani, Prashant Mandaviya, Bensiyon Songaonkar, Prashant Gohel, Parth Ankola A.

Sorath Lions

The Lions have tasted both success and failure in their campaign thus far. Their batting is highly suspect and this was evident in the game against the Warriors when they were bundled out of 105. But against the Royals, when their batting did come good, they looked a different outfit.

Barad and Chauhan appear the two best batsmen in the Lions’ ranks. As for their bowling, Sakariya, Dharmendra Jadeja and Chirag Jani appear their best bowlers. Sakariya’s spell of 4/16 was indeed a match-winning effort against the Royals.

The squad:

Sagar Jogiyani, Chirag Jani, Dharmendra Jadeja, Chetan Sakariya, Divyaraj Chauhan, Tarang Gohel, Aryandevsingh Jhala, Himalaya Barad, Kevin Jivrajani, Deepraj Chudasama, Pranav Kariya, Dhavalraj Jadeja, Prabhu Sindhav, Bhavyesh Donga, Vaibhav Sheth, Ankit Patel and Satyajeet Gohil.

Top Picks

Shaikh: coming in at number-four, Shaikh took on the Heroes with a 63 (41) with an innings studded with eight-boundaries

Krishankant Pathak: he’s a wonderful stroke-maker and displayed his range of shots against the Warriors when he struck six-fours and two sixes en route to a well compiled 63

Barad: the opening batsman is key to the Lions’ batting plans. When Barad gets going, like he did against the Royals, things look good for the Lions. He’s a solid stroke-maker who can score points for you

Sakariya: Sakariya’s spell of 4/16 against the Lions is a reminder of the bowler’s potential. A repeat performance to that effect is going to get your score through the roof

Chauhan: a key middle-order batsman, Chauhan, is also capable with the ball. Therefore, you can consider him for his all-round credentials.
