Schedule for Sri Lanka tour of Bangladesh 2018 announced

The official tour itinerary for Sri Lanka tour of Bangladesh has been announced. The islanders are all set to play 2 Tests, 2 T20Is, and a tri-nation series on the tour. Bangladesh would be hosting Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe for a short tri-nation series. All teams will compete against one another twice before the top two sides will play the finals of the series.

The series commences on January 15 with the hosts Bangladesh facing off against Zimbabwe. Sri Lankans will play their first match of the tour on January 17 against Zimbabwe. They will face off against the hosts on January 19. Finals of the tri-nation series will take place on January 27.

After the conclusion of the tri series, the first Test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will commence on January 31. The first of the two T20Is of the series will be played on February 15. All matches of the tri-series will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Dhaka. The NCAG, Mirpur will be the Sri Lanka’s pre-match practice venue before the tour commences.

They are expected to arrive in Bangladesh on January 11. While Sri Lanka will not be playing any warm up match, the Zimbabwean team is set to get a practice match as well ahead of the tri-nation series. Talking about the importance of the series, the islanders would hope to find some form after having a dreadful year of 2017.

Meanwhile, the woes for the hosts have not been any less either. After being very impressive throughout the 2017 calendar, the team had a major blip in South Africa where they were ‘tourwashed’ by the Proteas team.
