Saeed Ajmal enjoyed a magnificent time in Pakistan colours and troubled many prominent batters. The mysterious off-spinner wasn’t a massive turner of the ball, but his variations were a force to reckon with. One of the most lethal weapons in the spinner’s armoury was the doosra. However, his biggest asset became his nemesis as the International Cricket Council (ICC) banned him in 2014 due to his illegal bowling action.

The spinner did make a comeback after remodelling his action but lost his sheen. As a result, he didn’t play for Pakistan after 2015. In a recent interaction with Australian batsman Usman Khawaja, Ajmal presented his opinion on the ‘doosra’ and said it is unfair that ICC has completely banned bowlers from bowling the lethal ‘delivery’.

The former Pakistan spinner even said that he can teach any youngster how to bowl doosra within a month, that too without violating the 15-degree rule. “I can bowl, I ready the guys like within a month any youngster can bowl doosra within 15 degrees but ICC ban straight away said nobody can bowl, science said, why science f**** man, what da science, science is the man”, Ajmal in an interview which aired on Usman Khawaja’s official YouTube channel.

Saeed Ajmal’s explanation goes viral

Thanks to Ajmal’s passionate explanation, the interview went viral and became a talking point among fans. Netizens were left in splits by the former spinner’s animated description in English and use of cuss words. However, Khawaja was well composed during the conversation and Twitter believed that the southpaw was successful in controlling his laughter. The Pakistan-born Australian cricketer also got lauded for the same.

Meanwhile, Ajmal played 35 Tests, 113 ODIs and 64 T20Is in his international career, taking 178, 184 and 85 wickets respectively. These numbers are sensational by any standard but could have been even more daunting had ICC not found his action illegal. The 43-year-old is also of the same belief, and it was evident in his recent conversation.

Speaking of Khawaja, the veteran batsman is currently representing Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021. He’s yet to play a significant knock in the UAE leg of the tournament and he would be determined to pile a big score soon.
