Aakash Chopra who turned 40 today, was showered on Twitter with birthday wishes. Former dashing Indian opener Virender Sehwag also took on to Twitter to wish his former opening partner Aakash Chopra on occasion of his birthday.

Virender Sehwag has been upto a lot of stuff lately as in entertaining his followers on Twitter with some funny tweets. Sehwag also enjoyed a good commentary stint for a reasonable period. Of course birthday wishes are meant to be empty on Twitter without Virender Sehwag and he didn’t miss to grace the occasion with his tweet.

He tweeted, “Happy Birthday @cricketaakash.
May Aakash be the limit in what you achieve in life. God bless !”

Here’s the tweet mentioned above:

Aakash Chopra also thanked him in style. He tweeted, “Thanks my friend ?? you be at the other end and make it easy for me…like the good old days ??”

Here’s the tweet:

While Aakash Chopra didn’t have a great international career, alongside Sehwag, the opening pair enjoyed a great record in tests. Having opened together in 19 innings, the pair scored 897 runs at a good average of 47.21. They also had four-century stands and two fifty stands.

These two indeed put up some memorable opening stands. In fact, one of the century stands came in the game against Pakistan in the Multan test famously known for Virender Sehwag’s score of 309 runs. Aakash on the other hand scored 42 runs, missing out on a half-century.

During their stay at the crease, it was, of course, Sehwag who did most of the scoring but Chopra ensured that he did the classic opener’s job of killing the new ball. However, the partnership did not carry on for a longer duration due to Chopra’s inconsistency and failure to convert starts into something special.
