Shadab Jakati announces retirement from all forms of cricket
He thanked the BCCI and Goa Cricket for giving him the chance of ‘living his dream'.

Shadab Jakati, the veteran Goa cricketer, has hung his boots from all forms of cricket. The spin-bowling all-rounder made his first-class and List A debut way back in the 1998-99 season. His career has spanned 20 years and he was one of the stalwarts of Goa in all forms of cricket. Jakati has played 92 first-class, 82 List A and 91 T20s in which he has gotten 275, 93 and 73 wickets respectively.
Jakati picked up 15 five-wicket hauls and three 10-wicket hauls in his illustrious career. Jakati was no mug with the bat in hand either. At the first-class level, the southpaw ended with 2,734 runs at an average of 22.04 with a century and five half-centuries to show for his efforts. In List A cricket, Jakati has four fifties under his belt, having notched 1,104 runs at 18.40 with a top score of 77*.
Shadab Jakati played for CSK in the IPL
Jakati last played first-class and List A cricket back in 2017. His last T20 match came against Andhra in Visakhapatnam back in January 2018. Jakati also had the privilege of playing in the cash-rich and prestigious Indian Premier League (IPL). He made his IPL debut in 2009 for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Jakati didn’t flatter to deceive for them by any means.
From there on, he went on to ply his trade in 59 IPL games in which he picked up 47 wickets. Jakati last played for the defunct Gujarat Lions in the 2017 edition of the IPL. While announcing his retirement, Jakati said that it was tough for him to not play much cricket in the last one year. He didn’t forget to thank the BCCI and Goa cricket for giving him the chance of ‘living his dream’.
Jakati took to Twitter and wrote, “Just announced my retirement from all forms of cricket,Even though I have not been playing much over the last 1 year,it has been One of the harder things I have done in my life.Thank you @BCCI @goacricket11 with sincere gratitude 4 making me live my dream for the last 23 years,”
