Shah Rukh Khan gives his verdict on the new Kolkata Knight Riders squad

The Kolkata Knight Riders had a very tricky time at the IPL 2018 auctions. While most of the teams looked sorted about their plans and approach for the auctions, the KKR camp gave an impression of not getting their plans together. The teams had a purse of INR 80 crore at the player auctions this year. Also, they were allowed to pick a maximum of 25 players.

Four out of the eight franchises managed to pick 25 players from their auction purse amount. There were other three sides who managed to pick more than 20 players. But the Kolkata Knight Riders could only pick 19 players at the player auctions – the least among all the teams. They ended up exhausting their entire purse amount for those 19 players.

Well, if this was not enough, the Knight Riders raised more eye brows with their unusual decisions. They decided to leave out Gautam Gambhir from the roster as well. It is worth noting that it was Gautam Gambhir who had led the Kolkata franchise to two title wins in the history of the tournament. Moreover, they did not even rope in any player who they could potentially see as their next captain.

Amidst this backdrop, one of the co-owners of the KKR camp, Shah Rukh Khan recently had a social media interaction. The fans asked him a lot of questions at the interaction. One of the fans asked the Bollywood superstar to leave his comments on the new KKR squad that the management picked up at the IPL 2018 auctions.

Shah Rukh Khan ended up answering that the motto of the team has always been constant. They have firmly backed the youngsters in the side. And this particular squad is certainly full of young brigade. SRK hopes that the players will live up to the occasion and the team will succeed. SRK also voiced out his opinion on Gambhir’s departure.
