Reports from various sources go on to suggest that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has terminated its central contract with Shahid Afridi with immediate effect. The former Pakistan cricket team captain was taking part in the group stages of National T20 tournament.

However, an injury to his right knee, saw him leaving the Islamabad side Flamboyant which is led by Umar Gul. Being regarded as one of the best all-rounders Afridi has been phenomenal over the years.

Shahid Afridi held the record for the fastest century in the ODIs which was broken two years ago by Corey Anderson of New Zealand. However, the record for the fastest century among Pakistani batsmen is still safe in his hands.

In a career spanning over 10 years, Afridi had featured in 27 Test matches, 398 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 98 T20 internationals (T20Is). He had scored over 11,000 international runs across all the three formats and bagged 540 wickets.

Apart from Afridi, the PCB Central Cricket Committee has also terminated the contract of the off-spinner Saeed Ajmal. Ajmal has been a regular member of the team for the past six years being regarded as one of the best spinners in the world. However, thing changed rather quickly as he is restricted from bowling his doosra, as his arm is bending more than 15 degrees.

According to the new changes in the committee, cricketers Anwar Ali, Harris Sohail, Junaid Khan and Maqsood Ahmed have also been dropped from the squad. Being the skipper of the T20 side, Sarfraz Ahmed has been promoted to A category by the committee.

Pakistan is currently playing 2 ODIs against Irleand ahead of the ODI series against England, which will be starting from 24th of August.
