Following his innumerable retirements from international cricket, former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi has become some sort of an activist to solve the bilateral ties between India and Pakistan. Ever since becoming an icon for the United Nations, Afridi has voiced his opinions on the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan. Speaking about the same he said that the celebrities would indeed continue making attempts to better the ties at the moment.

Afridi also went on to add that the photograph with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was something that was for the betterment of the ties and to bring peace between the two countries.

“We were in agreement that celebrities should play their role towards the betterment of bilateral ties by speaking positively in the media,” Afridi said. “My aim of posting pictures with him (Salman Khan) on social media was the same,” Afridi, who is playing the local T20 league in Toronto, added.

Afridi busy promoting the Canada T20 League

Afridi, who is currently playing in the Global Canada T20 League went on to add that he was playing the game to ensure that interest for cricket went up, especially in the associate nations such as Canada where domestic T20 cricket is being played for the first time, so to speak. He also went on to add that this was something that would be beneficial for the overall Canadian side and their place in World Cricket.

“The organizers want to stage league matches in various cities of Canada and the USA. I am doing my bit in the game’s promotion and expansion in the region. It’s a great learning curve for local players,” Afridi said. “These activities will ultimately benefit the national team of Canada,” Afridi concluded.
