Peshawar Zalmi have always been the most fancied side in the PSL. They failed to impress in the playoffs of the tournament last year. However, they look like a totally revamped side this time around. With the tournament reaching the business end, the side looks formidable on paper. One man who has been an integral part of the side has been Shahid Afridi. The veteran all-rounder has time and again come under the scanner for being inconsistent. Having said that, one can simply not take away anything from the fact that he still continues to be one of the cleanest hitters of the cricket ball.

One man who has been an integral part of the side has been Shahid Afridi. The veteran all-rounder has time and again come under the scanner for being inconsistent. Having said that, one can simply not take away anything from the fact that he still continues to be one of the cleanest hitters of the cricket ball.

He has shown just that in this edition of the tournament. His last over heroics in the last league game for Peshawar Zalmi this season saw the side finish on top of the points table. The fans absolutely loved the way Shahid Afridi anchored the tricky run chase. There was one more fan who was totally bowled over by the clean hitting of Afridi. Nadia Shahid,

Nadia Shahid, wife of the big hitting cricketer, expressed her happiness on the social media soon after the match. She took to Twitter and wrote, “Alhamdullilah. Proud of my wonderful husband”.

It is not an everyday thing that she takes to the social media to praise her husband. Hence, it can safely be concluded that she was actually bowled over by Afridi’s innings. The fans loved it, even more, when Afridi replied back to the tweet. He noted that he always has two innings to take care of. The first innings is about seeing the fans happy and the second one is to make his wife happy.

He wrote, “Proud of u too. Always playing 2 innings, one to keep my fans happy and the other to keep you happy”.

Talking about the match, the Quetta Gladiators had put on 128 on the board for the Zalmi to chase. At 89/7, the Peshawar side was in a spot of bother in the run chase. It was Afridi who then singlehandedly took the Zalmi to a narrow 2 wicket win. Afridi remained unbeaten on 45 off mere 23 deliveries with 3 fours and as many sixes. Afridi finished things off in style with two consecutive boundaries off the bowling of Mahmudullah to seal the game for his side that ended up at the top of the league stage points table.
