Shahid Afridi changes colors as he joins Karachi Kings from Peshawar Zalmi

Pakistan Super League (PSL) was one of the best leagues last year. It had all the factors including the controversies. The PSL got even bigger last year when they moved the final to Pakistan and brought international cricket back home. That said, the next season of the PSL is not far and the teams have started to rope in players. They recently announced 7 overseas players agreeing to play in the fan favourite league. Today, another news broke out and it has taken the internet by storm. The star of the news is none other than Shahid Afridi.

Afridi joins Karachi Kings

The ruling champions of the league Peshawar Zalmi have traded Shahid Afridi, their platinum category player with Karachi Kings for one Gold pick and one Silver pick. He will bring a lot of experience to the Karachi Kings side while the defending champions will have to be smart in their picks. Karachi Kings finished 3rd in the table last season and Zalmi won the final in Lahore. Though Afridi was injured for the final his team won the league.

Team owner Javed Afridi thanked him on behalf of the franchise and mentioned that Afridi is like a brother to him. As a parting message also wished him luck with the new team.

“Shahid is a world-class player and the entire Peshawar Zalmi family thanks him for his contributions to our team. He is like a brother and We wish him the very best of luck in this new journey,” Javed said.

On the other hand, Karachi Kings owner Salman Iqbal was delighted get Afridi on board and said, “Shahid Afridi is the biggest name in Pakistan cricket and we are extremely pleased to have him on board”

The PSL Twitter handle posted about the trade, the tweet read, “The BLOCKBUSTER Trade of the Year! Karachi Kings clinches Boom Boom Afridi in return for their Gold and Silver pick!”
