The Bushfire tragedy at New South Wales, Australia has created a lot of ruckus over the past few days. The air quality in Sydney has gone beyond the hazardous range and the situation doesn’t seem to get better any sooner. A few days ago, a BBL match at the Manuka Oval in Canberra was abandoned due to the poor air quality. A number of cricketers have expressed their concerns.

Of late, Australia and New Zealand’s cricketers wore black arm bands to pay tribute to the ones affected in the incident. It was during the third Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Shane Warne, the spin wizard, also put his Baggy Green in the auctions for fund-raising. Shahid Afridi, the former Pakistan cricketer, is a concerned lot after the rather abject scenario in Australia.

Shahid Afridi comes forward

He is devastated by the developments in the last couple of weeks. The retired all-rounder said that the Shahid Afridi Foundation would be helping in relief work, providing supplies for the needy. Afridi also stated that Pakistan is with the Australians in the tough times.

The veteran took to Twitter and wrote, “Really saddened by the bushfire tragedy in Australia. We at Shahid Afridi Foundation offer our full support and our Australian Chapter will help in relief work by providing supplies urgently. Pakistan is with Australians in this hour of need. #AustralianBushfiresDisaster,”

Chris Lynn, who’s leading the Brisbane Heat in the 2019-20 Big Bash League (BBL), has also come forward. The Queenslander mentioned that he will be donating 250 dollars for every six he hits in the T20 tournament. Other sporting stars like Nich Kyrgios, Samantha Stosur have decided to contribute to the Bushfire tragedy as well.

As far as Afridi is concerned, he is currently in Bangladesh, representing the Dhaka Platoon in the Bangabandhu BPL. He has been in and out of the team as he hasn’t been able to deliver the goods. He has played six matches and picked up only a couple of wickets, going wicketless in five games. With the bat, his highest score was an unbeaten 26 against Cumilla Warriors in Chattogram.
