Swashbuckling Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi was once again dismissed for a golden duck. The right-hander came out to bat in the penultimate over of the match and was made depart by Thisara Perera off the very first delivery he faced. Pakistan is currently playing its final warm-up game against Asian rivals Sri Lanka at Eden gardens, Kolkata.

The Men in Green won the toss and decided to bat first. Openers Sharjeel Khan and Ahmed Shahzad gave a brisk start before both departed. Wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfraz Ahmed also could not stay in the middle for very long. However, the experienced Mohammad Hafeez then took charge of the proceedings and stroked a fluent 70 runs off just 49 deliveries, remaining unconquered till the end. Hafeez looked in sublime touch and hit 9 fours and a maximum while at the crease. Umar Akmal also played a short cameo of 19 runs from 15 deliveries. All these batting efforts saw Pakistan reach a manageable total of 157/5 after 20 overs.

Afridi seems to have completely lost his batting powers. We can say that without any doubt at least o the basis of the numbers which state that he has been out for a duck twice in the past ten T20 international innings and has managed just three double-figure scores.

Many have already suggested that he should step down as skipper and should bid adieu to the game. Likewise, if he keeps performing in such a way then he would have to face a lot of fire from the media and fans from his country.
