Shahid Afridi, the former Pakistan cricketer was involved in a Live Instagram session with a known Pakistan anchor, Sana Bucha on Thursday evening. During the interaction, he talked about his daily life in lockdown, impact of COVID-19 and topics related to cricket. In the meantime, he also picked his all-time World Cup XI in which he snubbed some of the big players like Sachin Tendulkar, Imran Khan and many others, who hold several records in the mega event.

Amid COVID-19 outbreak, the cricketers have become pro-active on social media platforms. Moreover, they have begun interaction with their fans in live sessions. Also, they are coming out with their best playing XIs across all the formats based on different criteria. Earlier, Shane Warne, Aakash Chopra and Ashton Agar had given out their best XI. Now, Shahid Afridi has also joined the bandwagon picking his World Cup XI.

Five Pakistan players in Shahid Afridi’s World Cup XI

The 40-year-old picked great Saeed Anwar and former Aussie opener, Adam Gilchrist as his preferred set of openers in the team. Ricky Ponting, who helped Australia in winning back to back World Cups was given the third position in the line-up followed by Virat Kohli who has scored 1030 runs in 26 matches across three World Cups and Inzamam Ul Haq on the fifth position respectively.

Afridi included only one all-rounder in his All-Time World Cup XI, Jacques Kallis, who is rated as one of the best cricketers in the history of international cricket. The 40-year-old didn’t compromise with his bowling unit as he picked a lethal fast bowling trio of Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar and Glenn McGrath followed by an impressive spinning duo of Shane Warne and Saqlain Mushtaq.

Surprisingly, Afridi didn’t pick players like Sachin Tendulkar, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, who hold some big records in the marquee events that are simply impossible to break for any cricketer of any generation.
