Shahid Afridi reveals list of all-time players that 'fascinate' him

Cricket is a game of margins they say and thus it is no brainer that the ramification of the match can turn around at any given point. Think of someone who has displayed this ability to be a match-winner and the veteran Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi will certainly make it to your list. With the plethora of entertainment and energy he brought on the pitch, he was a great asset to the Pakistan team.

Entering into the world of cricket in 1996, Afridi dropped many jaws in his first international innings itself. He went on to hit the then fastest half-century and marked the beginning of his journey that was destined to touch excellence. He wore his heart on his sleeves and has sailed Pakistan to victory from many crunch moments.

When asked about the cricketers he cherished watching play, the veteran lavished praises on Inzamam-Ul-Haq and Saeed Anwar along with a few other names. Putting up his thoughts on the players in interaction with Khelo Aazadi Se Show on BSports Pakistan YouTube Channel he stated-

“If we talk about my initial years, Inzamam Ul Haq and Saeed Anwar used to fascinate me. To follow their game, the heard wanted to sit in front of the TV and watch them. I fulfilled my dream when I started playing with them. If you talk about players from other countries, there was Brian Lara and Glenn McGrath.”

Opening up further on the current bunch of players, Afridi was effusive in praise of Pakistan’s batting pair of Fakhar Zaman and skipper Babar Azam. The 360-degree player Ab De Villiers who never fails to enthrall the cricketing fraternity also made it to one of his liked players’ lists. However, from India, it boiled down to only Virat Kohli who was mentioned by Afridi.

“When it comes to the current generation, I would say AB de Villiers, Virat Kohli, Babar Azam… he is outstanding. Fakhar Zaman when in form. He is one player who if gives a start, Pakistan have won matches one-sided. But for that, his consistency is important.”
