Shahid Afridi has been among the most sought after cricketers in the Pakistan Super League. He has been featured in the list of Platinum-category players and is among the highest paid cricketers in the tournament. He played for the Peshawar Zalmi in the first couple of seasons, however, has moved to the Karachi Kings in the ongoing season of the event.

Karachi won their first three games and Afridi has played a vital role in their victorious run thus far. However, as per reports in geo.tv, the franchise has suffered a body-body as the former Pakistani cricketer has triggered a knee injury owing to which he will be out of the league for a minimum of ten days. The veteran also wasn’t included in the playing XI of the Kings’ rain-abandoned game against the Shoaib Malik-led Multan Sultans.

Ten-days rest for Afridi

The recently turned 38-year old will undergo an MRI scan on his knee fowling which his fate in the tournament will be decided. Sources close to Afridi has confirmed that the doctors have advised him rest for at least ten days. “After doctor’s advice, it is likely that Afridi will rest for at least a week but he’s eager to be on the field soon,” the source was quoted as saying by the media.

The source also mentioned how Afridi took precautionary measures before taking the field “Reports suggest that he has to swell in his knee. He was feeling the pain for last three-four days, even played the last match after taking pain-killers,” the source added.

Meanwhile, the all-round cricketer also posted a photo on Twitter surrounding his swelled knee. He wrote “My apologies to all my fans who came to watch me play today. Getting an MRI done for my knee. Need your prayers. Will get back soon Inshallah,”
